Requirements to Practice

Certification & Licensure

To become a Registered Dietitian (RD) / Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN):
Graduates of the UNMC Master of Medical Nutrition program are eligible to take a national examination administered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR), the credentialing agency for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.

To become a Licensed Medical Nutrition Therapist (LMNT) in Nebraska:
Nebraska is one of more than forty states with legislation regulating the practice of dietetics. State licensure and state certification are entirely separate and distinct from registration or certification by the Commission on Dietetic Registration.

Graduates of the UNMC Master of Medical Nutrition program who have become RD/RDNs are eligible to apply for licensure in Nebraska.
