Are you a working MLT looking to advance your position and your degree?

The online MLS Degree Advancement Option is designed for working MLT/CLT professionals looking for an opportunity to earn an advanced degree while continuing to work in their home communities.

How does it work?
UNMC works with you to award you the credit you have earned in your MLT program and general education courses so you can focus on the MLS coursework you need to earn your bachelor’s degree and be prepared to sit for the MLS boards.
credit hours

Qualified candidates are interviewed and mentored by a faculty advisor who works with you to best meet your needs as both a student and employed practitioner in choosing a plan of study that varies by the number of credit hours taken each semester. The plan of study includes completion of the Level I and Level II MLS Program’s core curriculum, with access given to the orientation coursework.

Please note: this program does not meet clinical rotation requirements for California licensure and New York licensure. Please see the ASCP BOC website for more state licensure information.

You are allowed up to five years to complete the DAO; however it is possible to complete the program in five semesters. Most clinical practicum competencies can be documented at the student’s workplace or assessed as proctored, virtual, simulated activities. You may be closer than you think to earning your bachelor’s degree in MLS!

Let us help you take that next step! View the Technical Standards for CAHP distance education programs, review our admissions requirements, and then contact us for a transcript evaluation. We are excited to work with you.
