Curriculum

Person doing one-legged squat in clinical environment
Residents will complete patient care in an outpatient clinic for 30 hours per week. The resident will also have mentored clinical work and didactic learning activities each week. Given the scope of residency learning opportunities, residents should expect to spend 50-60 hours per week preparing for and completing program activities. The schedule below provides an idea of a typical week; however, the exact schedule of non-clinic time will vary to align with mentor and class schedules.

PT Residency ScheduleThe didactic component of the program uses the APTA Academy of Orthopedics' Residency Curriculum package of Independent Study Courses (ISCs). Residency faculty members supplement these ISCs with current evidence and laboratory practice sessions. Residents are able to apply what they have learned in the clinic each week, and while teaching in UNMC’s entry-level DPT program.

As employees of UNMC, residents will also have access to outstanding library facilities, faculty development resources, and a wide-array of additional learning opportunities.
