The following links provide evidence-based information about healthy eating and activity to help achieve and maintain a healthy weight:

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) offers a healthy weight web-site that features information about lifestyle changes, including healthy eating (including tips for meal planning), physical activity, and inspirational success stories from people who lost weight and kept it off.

The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) of the USA National Institutes of Health (NIH) offers a free booklet about aiming for a healthy weight. This booklet offers practical information for adults, including tips for healthy eating and activity, goal setting, and a weekly food and activity diary, etc.  

The USA Dietary Guidelines for Americans is published every 5 years and serves to help Americans make healthy food and beverage choices. It is considered the Nation’s “go-to” source for nutrition advice.

The USDA MyPlate web-site offers multiple interactive features including food, activity and weight tracking, group challenges, as well as help adults develop a personalized experience for nutrition and physical activity planning.

The Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans was developed by an expert advisory panel appointed by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.  This is an easy-to-follow guide to help Americans (both adults and children ages 6 and older) maintain or improve their health through regular physical activity.
