Students will participate in a 2-day course emphasizing focused ultrasound including transthoracic echocardiography, lung ultrasound, vascular access and gastric imaging. This course is held in conjunction with the first two days of the UNMC Echo Course if students are enrolled.
This course is geared towards the physician who is looking to start incorporating point-of-care ultrasound into their practice through the use of qualitative evaluation. The course emphasizes the diagnosis of life-threatening conditions in the perioperative, intensive care and wards environments. Through the course the student will be introduced to:
- Rescue TTE Exam
- Lung ultrasound
- Vascular Access and DVT evaluation
- Gastric Imaging
- Left Ventricular Systolic Function
- Right Ventricular Systolic Function
