How did you become interested in your field of study?
Since my first high school Psychology class I have been fascinated with mental health. That interest led me to major in Psychology at Wayne State College, and I followed that passion to graduate school at UNO for Clinical Mental Health Counseling.
What have you enjoyed most about your internship/training program?
What I have enjoyed most about my training program is the excitement of learning new information. Each course is so practical and directly applicable to my future career. This excitement reminds me of the passion I have for mental health, and how thankful I am to be pursuing a career I love.
How has this experience helped prepare you for your career?
UNO's program has prepared me for my career by building a strong foundation of knowledge and practical experience. The program incorporates many opportunities for self-reflection and mindfulness. As a clinician, I will integrate these experiences to provide holistic care for my clients.
What are your career aspirations?
As a clinical mental health counselor, my goal is to work with college students. My desire to work with this specific population stems from their unique life situation. These students are at a pivotal crossroads. The experiences a student has in college have the ability to shape their entire life. As a college mental health counselor, I want to walk with students through the uncertainty toward a bright future during this influential time.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
During my free time I enjoy exercise, dancing, and experiencing new foods and cultures.
