Ryan Cordts, MBA | BHECN Administrator II
Ryan Cordts joined BHECN as the new Administrator II in October of 2022. In this position, Ryan will provide fiscal and administrative oversight for all BHECN’s operations and administrative services and serve as a liaison with other departments throughout UNMC. Ryan will also collaborate on BHECN’s long-range planning and development to help build the behavioral health workforce.
Ryan originally joined the University of Nebraska Medical Center's (UNMC) Psychiatry Department as the Business Operations Manager, where he was responsible for oversight and coordination of daily operations and acted as an administrative liaison for the Department of Psychiatry staff. Prior to UNMC, Ryan worked for Creighton School of Medicine. He has been working in academic healthcare for three years.
Ryan enjoys helping to solve problems and keeping things running smoothly. His interest in public health and helping to expand the behavioral health resources in Nebraska led him to BHECN.
Ryan has his Bachelor’s Degree in business management from Washburn University and a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Kansas.
Q & A with Ryan:
Flashback to when you were ten years old. What do you want to be when you grow up?
"Probably a professional athlete. But, the older I get, I think I just want to be happy and surround myself with positive individuals."
What inspires you to get out of bed in the morning?
"Seeing my son’s smile."
Do you have any skills or talents that most people don’t know about?
"I played baseball in college and enjoy playing softball today to stay active."
Who is someone you admire, and why?
"My son. He is turning 1 year old. Life changes dramatically when you have a young child that relies on you. I love seeing his smile. He is the happiest baby, and his personality develops more and more every day."
What is the last book you read/show you watched/something you can’t get enough of?
"I read a lot of financial and leadership books. Currently, I am re-watching Game of Thrones so I can prepare for the House of the Dragon series. I am also a fan of Billions, Yellowstone, Ozark, and Bosch."
What are some causes you care about?
"Reducing hunger in our community by serving at food banks and volunteering for Meals on Wheels. I also care a lot about animals in shelters and finding their forever families."

What is the first thing on your bucket list?
"I enjoy traveling, so I’d say to travel more. I’d love to go to Bavaria or some Northern Mediterranean countries like Spain, France, Italy, or Greece."

"As someone who is helpful and brings a smile to others' faces. I like to help make others' jobs easier and be a positive light in someone’s day."
