The first week of July marks the beginning of a new year for many of the programs that train our future mental health providers. Medical students become residents. Psychology interns and post-docs start a new chapter on their training journey. PAs and NPs start a new year.
Every year BHECN marks the beginning of the new training year with a Welcome Event. This year’s event was held at the Hanscom Park Pavilion and featured a pig roast and comments from BHECN director Howard Liu, M.D.; chair of the UNMC psychiatry department, Steve Wengel, M.D.; chair of the Creighton psychiatry department, Tom Svolos, M.D.; residency program director, Kayla Pope, M.D.; Munroe-Meyer Institute faculty Holly Roberts, Ph.D., and Union College physician assistant faculty Michelle Buller, M.M.S., PA-C. About 100 students, trainees, faculty, and staff attended the event on July 8.
