My Research interests are in leveraging electronic health record data and other existing clinical data sources o answer public health and health practice questions. Currently, I am the data manager for the NIH funded Nebraska Pediatric Clinical Trials Unit (NPCTU), a part of the NIH-funded IDeA States Pediatric Clinical Trials Network. In this capacity I create EHR-based report tools, queries, and dashboard elements to improve the efficiency of trials conducted at our site. Additionally, I am on several committees that revolve around health record data management, use, and its role in clinical pathway development including the data governance and pathway steering committees at Children's Hospital and Medical Center (CHMC) and the Clinical Research Analysis Environment (CRANE) user group at UNMC. I also advise and carry out analysis for numerous pediatric junior researchers at UNMC. The area in which I have done the most has been regarding implementing and leveraging usage data from apps used in interventions. Many aspects of what role these apps play in clinical decision making have been published including the development, and usability analysis, and impact analysis, and safety heuristic analysis.
