What is CENTRIC: The Center for Patient, Family, and Community Engagement in Chronic Care Management is an interdisciplinary community of faculty, students, and experts (clinical, academic and community members) whose work and interests focus on the prevention and self-management of chronic illnesses including but not limited to cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and cancer. This University of Nebraska Board of Regents center was initially approved March 18, 2016, and was renewed in 2021. The Center is administered within the College of Nursing on the University of Nebraska Medical Center Omaha campus.
The five CENTRIC Cores: Research & Scholarship, Industry & Innovation, Community Engagement & Scholarship, Postdoctoral & Mentorship, and the Qualitative Research Lab form a hub for interdisciplinary scholars to learn, share expertise, and create scholarly synergy and research productivity.
Mission:
To be a leader and innovator in the science of self-management and prevention of chronic illness.
Vision:
- collaborate across all campuses of University of Nebraska to engage senior and early career scientists, graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and academic-practice partners in the science of self-management and prevention of chronic illness,
- innovate in the use of technology to promote chronic disease prevention and self-management and,
- promote health, reduce the burden of chronic illness, and actively work with community partners toward health equity in Nebraska and beyond.
