Hello! Week five, you're in the wait room for your lifting this week. We are doing Sumo deadlifts. So Sumo deadlifts are just another deadlift variation that have a wide stance. Very wide stance. The hands are inside, okay? Inside the legs pretty much straight down from the shoulders. It is a much smaller range of motion. Chest is taller. So if you have low back issues, this is a friendlier version of a deadlift. It's going to target. Flutes, quads, abductors, so the insides of the legs there. And you're going to be doing the same thing, the heavy set of five, right? Loss of form, meaning you're rounding the back. The shoulders are pulling forward. It's a loss of form, so you're building to a heavy five this week, and then you're doing four sets of five once you find that heavy. I'm going to go over your setup here and our movement. We've got the barbell on the platform. Stance, extra wide, okay? I like to use the rings on the barbell. Those rings are about at my mid-foot and my toes are turned out at 45 degrees. Hands are straight down from the shoulders. Make sure they're evenly spaced, and that the bar is going to start at my mid-shin, okay? My chest is tall, eyes are up in the setup position. I'm driving my knees out, okay? So, they are tracking out over those toes. And then I'm going to push the floor away to stand, pulling it into the hips. All right, and then on the way down, same as your traditional, we're sending the hips back. Once it passes the knees, bend the knees slightly, okay, so that bar is at mid-shin, and then standing it back up. Driving those feet, heels through the floor, keeping my back nice and straight, chest is tall, belly is tight, right back down to that mid shin. And I need to get back to the ground. Alright, there's your Simo Deadlift. Whoop! Have fun with this one, and we'll see. See you later.
