Dr. Tim Jares
Tim Jares, PhD, CFA
Professor of Finance
Dean, College of Business and Technology at the University of Nebraska Kearney
I graduated from the University of South Dakota with a B.S. in Mathematics and Computer Science in 1985. I spent about 10 years working in private business, then contracting with the government, mostly focused on computer networking and moving large volumes of data at very high speeds (at the time). I also spent some time in expert systems development.
In the early 90s I earned my MBA, then decided to continue and earn a Ph.D. (Finance) from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. A somewhat traditional academic career ensued, with most of my research focused on fair value mutual fund pricing and exchange traded funds. As an associate dean I played a significant role in the Monfort College of Business receipt of the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award in 2004. This experience both informed and motivated my passion for quality in higher education.
I am finishing up my second year as Dean. Though neither year has been normal, we have made a great deal of progress. Partnering with UNMC and others throughout the university enables all of us to accomplish so much more. I very much appreciate the opportunity to contribute to the Center for Intelligent Health Care.
