A record number of students from the UNMC College of Dentistry gave presentations at the 93rd Annual International Association for Dental Research (IADR) Meeting, held from March 11 to 14 in Boston. The IADR meeting was held in conjunction with the 44th Annual Meeting of the American Association for Dental Research and the 39th Annual Meeting of the Canadian Association for Dental Research. Children's Dental Day 2015

Children's Dental Day

February 6, 2015 - Nearly 200 children participated in Children's Dental Day at the UNMC College of Dentistry in Lincoln. Dental faculty, staff and students are providing cleanings, extractions, fillings and root canals to children from 11 different communities in Nebraska.

The dental and dental hygiene students were joined by nursing students from the UNMC College of Nursing Lincoln division, who provided well checks as well as learning how dental health affects a person’s overall health.

Dental hygiene students from Central Community College in Hastings also participated, and physician assistant students from Union College - Lincoln, Nebraska assisted with patient registration and clinic check in.

Dr. Janet Guthmiller named new Dean of UNMC College of Dentistry

Janet Guthmiller, D.D.S., Ph.D., has been appointed as the new dean of the College of Dentistry at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. The appointment is effective Sept. 1, pending approval by the University of Nebraska Board of Regents. Dr. Guthmiller will succeed John Reinhardt, D.D.S., who is stepping down after 14 years as UNMC’s dentistry dean. [read more]

John Reinhardt, D.D.S., who has served as dean of the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Dentistry for 13 years, announced today that he will step down from his post on June 30, 2014.

“It has been a great honor and privilege to serve as dean since 2000, and now it is time for someone new to guide the College of Dentistry to ever higher levels of achievement,” Dr. Reinhardt said. “The successes of the college would not have been possible without the dedicated energy and support of our faculty and staff, and for that I am very grateful.” [read more]
