“An Update in Digital Dentistry”
Speaker Biography:
Dr. Bennett is a graduate of the Oregon Health & Sciences University School of Dentistry. He then completed a one year General Practice Residency at the Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton and is a fellow in the Academy of General Dentistry. Dr Bennett served in the US Navy for over 5 years as a dental officer. Dr Bennett joined the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Dentistry full time as an Assistant Professor of CADCAM and Digital Dentistry in 2019. Prior to that, he was in private practice in Lincoln as well as a part time instructor at the COD. Dr Bennett has been a member of CEREC study clubs in Honolulu, HI and Lincoln, NE and has completed countless restorations using CAD/CAM technology including the CEREC Redcam, Bluecam, Omnicam and the Planmeca Emerald and Planscan (E4D). Dr Bennett is a strong advocate for CAD/CAM dentistry in its many forms.
Course Description: In this course we will cover available techniques and materials that can be added to your clinical workflows to improve speed, efficiency, reduce stress and lower operating costs. We will also cover technologies that sound like they should accomplish those lofty goals that might not be ready for mass adoption. What works, What kind of Works, and what will (hopefully) work soon.
Learning Objectives
- Review Intra oral and extra oral scanning in dentistry and when you might want to finally buy a scanner
- 3D printing Should you do it? Or have your lab do it for you
- What CADCAM materials seem to work best in office vs lab
- Is it time to make the switch to digital dentures? Yes
- What is a “digital denture”?
- Lessons learned from implementation and failed implementation of all of the above in my practice and in the UNMC COD clinics
