COURSE DESCRIPTION

This eight-hour two day course with hands on component will introduce the participant to pain and anxiety management of the dental hygiene patient using nitrous oxide oxygen sedation.  Participants will be required to pass both a written 100 point evaluation and a practical process evaluation.   Upon successful completion of this course the dental hygienist practicing in the State of Nebraska will be able to administer and titrate nitrous oxide analgesia under the indirect supervision of a licensed dentist.

SPEAKER BIO 

Todd N. Junge graduated from the University Of Nebraska Medical Center College Of Dentistry Dental Hygiene Program in 2001.  Todd has been a faculty member at the College of Dentistry since 2002 and is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Dental Hygiene.  He teaches dental hygiene students both clinically and didactically.  He is a lecturer in Preclinical Techniques, Preclinic Theory and Local Anesthesia and a clinical instructor in Clinical Dental Hygiene (I, II, III and IV).  Todd is the course director for Clinic Techniques I and Nitrous Oxide-Oxygen Sedation for dental hygiene students.  Todd is certified to administer Nitrous Oxide Oxygen Sedation by the State of Nebraska DHHS.

            Tuesday, January 4

            8:00 A.M.     Two hour Clinic:  Practical Process Evaluation:  Assembly and Disassembly                                                 of Equipment, Administration on Clinic Partners
