Speaker:  J. Bruce Bavitz, graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine in 1984 and completed his Oral/Maxillofacial Surgery (OMFS) Residency in Pittsburgh in 1988. Currently, Dr. Bavitz is the Merritt C. Pederson Professor and chair of the Department of Surgical Specialties at the UNMC College of Dentistry. He has given multiple CE courses to dentists, both nationally and internationally. Dr. Bavitz is past president of the Nebraska Society of OMFS and the Lincoln District Dental Society, a Diplomate for the American Board of OMFS, and Fellow in the American College of Dentists. Additionally, he has a United States patent on a dental implant aligning device, completed a five-year term as member of the oral surgery/pain control test construction section for the National Dental Board, and performed office inspections for the State of Nebraska for dentists seeking advanced anesthesia permits. Presently, Dr. Bavitz serves as coordinating editor for Practical Reviews in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and reviewer for multiple implant and oral surgery journals. His primary area of research and publishing involves surgical anatomy of the jaws and alveolar bone reconstruction.

Update on Moderate Procedural Sedation

This 6-hour course with a hands on component meets the educational requirements for maintaining a minimal, moderate, or deep sedation permit for the State of Nebraska.  At the conclusion of this course, participants should be able to:
