[VIDEO LOGO] BO KITRELL: Hello. My name is Bo Kitrell, and I'm a third-year medical student. SOPHIE GART: And I'm Sophie Gart. I'm a second-year medical student. BO KITRELL: And we represent SPOTS at UNMC. SPOTS stands for Sun Protection and Outreach Teaching by Students. Our club members volunteer to lead interactive presentations about the importance of sun protection at many schools and organizations throughout our community. SOPHIE GART: This is important because one in five Americans get skin cancer in their lifetime. At our events, we focus on teaching preteens and teens because they are high risk for being influenced by harmful tanning trends. What we do is we teach about what skin cancer is, how to recognize it, and most importantly, how to prevent it. BO KITRELL: If you want more information about this, you can visit our engage page. Or you can just find us in the Dermatology Department at the fourth floor of Lauritzen Outpatient Center. Hope to see you soon. [VIDEO LOGO]
