Dr. Kristie Hayes Visiting URiM Medical Student Externship in Dermatology
The Dr. Kristie Hayes Visiting URiM Medical Student Externship in Dermatology is an available visiting externship awarded to rising 4th-year Underrepresented Minority Students in Medicine (URiMs) interested in dermatology to receive funding for travel, lodging, and board for a 1-month sub-I clinical rotation at UNMC Dermatology. This rotation may be done in June, August, or September. Applications must be received by April 1st each year.
- Students must first apply through VSLO to be considered for this externship. For any questions regarding UNMC VSLO requirements, please email vslo@unmc.edu
- Preference will be given to students considered underrepresented in medicine: Black/African American, Hispanic/Latino, Native American, Pacific Islander/Native Hawaiian.
- Applicants must send CV, Step 1 scores, Medical School Transcript, 1 LOR, and personal statement (<1 page) to Savannah Schamp.
Karle Cordova Olnes UNMC Dermatology URiM Summer Medical Student Research Fellowship
The Karle Cordova Olnes UNMC Dermatology URiM Summer Medical Student Research Fellowship is an award available to Underrepresented Minority Students in Medicine (URiMs) interested in dermatology to perform basic, translational, clinical or outcomes research during the summer between M1 and M2 years in medical school. This award is open to UNMC and outside medical students, however, preferences will be given to UNMC medical students. This research fellowship is typically performed in June, July, and August each year. Applications should be sent to Lucinda Kustka, Research Nurse Coordinator: dermresearch@unmc.edu by April 1st each year.
