FallProof™ Balance & Mobility Training

Offered: Class meets 2 times per week, for 12 weeks

Description: A 12-week progressive program designed to address the multiple dimensions that contribute to balance & mobility. Benefits may include: pre-assessment for balance impairments, improved seated & standing posture, improved walking ability, strategies that will help improve the ability to recover from a loss of balance, increased confidence and reduced fear of falling, improved performance of activities of daily living, and post-assessment. This is a structured group exercise class instructed by one of Nebraska’s ONLY TWO certified FallProof™ instructors!

FallProof™ was recognized in 2003 by the National Council on Aging as one of seven exemplary model programs in the U.S. promoting healthy aging and improved quality of life. This program is based on a model developed and validated at the Center for Successful Aging, Cal State University, Fullerton.

National Diabetes Prevention Program

Offered: Weekly for the first 16 weeks, then monthly for 8 months

Description: A one-year evidence-based program designed to help you make lifestyle changes, to improve your overall health and reduce your risk of developing type 2 diabetes. By improving food choices and increasing physical activity, you can lose 5-7% of your body weight. If you have pre-diabetes, these lifestyle changes can reduce your risk of developing type 2 diabetes by more than 50% (71% in people over 60). Now is the time to take charge of your health!

Offered: Class meets 3 times per week, for 8 weeks

Description: This is an award-winning, evidence-based exercise/behavior change program for adults with lower extremity osteoarthritis. The class includes 60 minutes of exercise & 30 minutes of group discussion/health education. Benefits may include: arthritis management, safe exercise, decrease in joint pain & stiffness, improved daily function, reduction of anxiety & depression, and ways to develop & maintain an active lifestyle. If you suffer from joint pain or stiffness in the lower body, consider joining this class!

Living Well -Take Control of Your Health

Description: A six-week evidence-based workshop to improve self-management of chronic disease & your daily health. It may be beneficial to people with ongoing health problems such as: Arthritis, Diabetes, Heart Disease, Asthma, Cancer, Depression, Fibromyalgia, COPD, Parkinson’s, Anxiety, & so on. The six-week class meets once a week, for two hours. The program is fun & interactive, with a relaxed environment. Participation in this workshop is FREE of charge! Attendance at all six classes is recommended.
