The primary aim of the Pediatric Ophthalmology and Adult Strabismus Fellowship Program at UNMC’s Truhlsen Eye Institute and Children's Hospital and Medical Center is to provide top level ophthalmic clinical and surgical training to fellow physicians pursuing a career in Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus. The Pediatric Ophthalmology faculty team is focused on inspiring fellow to seek and provide the highest levels of quality in patient care and surgical outcomes. We also provide an array of educational and research support to those who are interested in pursuing a career as an academician; including basic science, translational, and clinical research opportunities in collaboration with our Vision Science Research team.
During the fellowship training at UNMC/Children's, fellow work closely with our board certified pediatric ophthalmologists to manage routine and complex tertiary level cases within the state-of-the-art facilities at TEI and Children's Hospital. The fellow will be trained in the clinical evaluation of patients, interpretation of specialized ancillary testing, diagnosis, and medical and surgical management of all types of pediatric ophthalmic pathology and complicated adult strabismus with the goal of
producing local, regional, national, and international leaders in ophthalmology.
