Transgender Health
Walking Tour Survey
Please complete this survey before you begin the tour.
The intersection of race/ethnicity and gender identity can contribute to challenges in accessing health care. The National Transgender Discrimination Survey brought to light that transgender and non-conforming people face injustice at every turn- home, school, work, doctor’s offices, jails, shelters.
Transblack and minority patients experience higher rates of discrimination when accessing health care services. Fear of discrimination and previous negative experiences may cause them to avoid or delay care which can lead to disparities in HIV rates and other medical conditions.
