We are in our 24th year of affiliation with the United States Air Force Residency based at Offutt Air Force Base in Bellevue. Our residency continues to be a fully integrated civilian/military program and serves as a model for other USAF residency training programs. Due to the strong didactic and procedural training available, the residency attracts the best and brightest applicants from across the nation. There are currently 22 residents assigned to this program.
The Air Force arm of the residency is a 3-year program with 8 residents per training year. Graduates can be assigned anywhere there is an Air Force base, from Japan to Italy and everywhere in between. You may also apply to go directly into flight medicine upon graduation. Some highlights of the training include:
- Inpatient work in university, suburban, and rural hospital settings
- Wide variety of outpatient specialty rotations
- Dedicated 2-month rural rotation in small Nebraska towns
- Robust sports medicine program supporting Division 1 NCAA sporting events
- Excellent procedural availability for colonoscopy and EGDs, full unopposed obstetrics, vasectomies, colposcopies, minor skin procedures, graded exercise testing, office obstetrical ultrasound, and much more
- An empanelment of patients cared for at the Air Force clinic
- Unique military training experiences such as the Combat Casualty Care Course
