Our three-year rural training track begins at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, Omaha. As a first-year family medicine resident, you will gain valuable experience from a large teaching hospital. Your second and third years offer additional training in family medicine under the supervision of the physicians at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff, Nebraska.
Your rotations at Regional West Medical Center will include: obstetrics/gynecology, surgery, family medicine, neurology, pediatrics, orthopedics, otolaryngology, ophthalmology, urology, cardiology, behavioral medicine, occupational medicine, pulmonology, critical care, four months of elective time, and two months of rural practice. Hands-on learning includes an on-call schedule every fourth night.
Our family medicine residents have unique opportunities to work closely with many diverse populations. Our medical staff is proud and supportive of the family medicine residency, as it is the medical center’s exclusive residency program.
They will help you to develop your skills in the delivery of family health care to young and old across the spectrum; from intensive obstetrics/gynecology training and experience in ambulatory care, to treatment of adults with chronic illness.
