American Heart Association Predoctoral Fellowship (2015)

The American Heart Association (AHA) Predoctoral Fellowship program provides research assistance and training to help students initiate careers in areas broadly-related to cardiovascular function, disease and stroke, or to related basic science, bioengineering or biotechnology, and public health problems.  Anand Suresh was awarded a one-year AHA fellowship for his project, entitled “The role of motor training plasticity during stroke.” Anand’s research focuses on how changes in glutamate receptors in synapses underlie structural synaptic plasticity with motor learning in a mouse model of a neurodevelopmental disorder and with stroke. Anand completed his dissertation research under the guidance of Anna Dunaevsky, PhD, in the Munroe-Meyer Institute Department of Developmental Neuroscience, receiving the PhD degree in May 2017.
