NIH National Institute of Nursing Research Graduate Partnerships Program (2018-2020)

The National Institute of Nursing Research (NINR) Graduate Partnerships Program (GPP) coordinates training and funding for PhD students attending a school of nursing, combining the academic environment of a university and the breadth and depth of research at the National Institutes of Health. Dilorom (Delia) Sass’s acceptance into the highly prestigious and competitive GPP allows her to spend 2 years at the NIH working on her dissertation project with the NINR’s principal investigator, Dr. Leo Saligan. Delia’s research aims to identify novel biomarkers that improve understanding of cancer immunology and its relevance to cancer-related fatigue with an overarching aim to develop tailored therapies in treatment of cancer-related symptoms.  Delia completed her dissertation research under the supervision of Dr. Paula Schulz, receiving the PhD degree in May 2020.
