NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program Fellowship (2015-2020)

The National Science Foundation (NSF) Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP) awards fellowships based on a student's demonstrated potential to contribute to strengthening the vitality of the US science and engineering enterprise. Tyler Herek was awarded an NSF GRFP Fellowship for his project entitled "Investigating the role of caveolin-1 in immune synapse formation and antigen presentation." His research will use both in vitro and in vivo models to delineate how the scaffolding capability of caveolin-1 facilitates cell polarization, immune synapse formation, T-cell receptor signaling, and immune development. A student in the Cancer Research Graduate Program, Tyler is pursuing his dissertation research on the UNO campus under the direction of Christine E. Cutucache, Ph.D.
