2021 National Rural Health Association Rural Health Fellows Program

The National Rural Health Association (NRHA) Rural Health Fellows Program aims to educate, develop and inspire a networked community of rural health leaders who will step forward to serve in key positions in the NRHA, affiliated rural health advocacy groups and local and state legislative bodies. Each year, the NRHA names 10 to 15 highly motivated Fellows who have proven their dedication to improving the health of rural Americans through their educational or professional experience. Jed Hansen, a PhD Candidate in Nursing, has been selected to participate in the year-long 2021 NRHA Rural Health Fellows Program. One of only 2 students selected as 2021 Fellows, Jed’s dedication to improving community and rural health include involvement in the Intercultural Senior Center Interactive Education Initiative, as well as his leadership in planning and organizing the 2019 and 2020 Policy Conferences hosted by the Primary Care Progress Student Chapter and UNMC Student Delegates. The Policy Conferences provided access to local, regional and national leadership through presentations and panel discussions. Jed completed the PhD degree under the mentorship of Kathryn Fiandt, PhD, Professor and Associate Dean for Transformational Practice and Partnerships in the College of Nursing – Omaha Division, receiving the PhD degree in May 2021.
