PhD in MSIA - Applied Behavior Analysis

Member, Association for Behavior Analysis International Practice Board (2017-2020)

The Association for Behavior Analysis International (ABAI) is the primary membership organization for those interested in the philosophy, science, application, and teaching of behavior analysis. The ABAI supports scientist-practitioners through the work of its 7-member Practice Board, which focuses on matters of interest to agencies and providers of behavior analysis services. The objective of the ABAI Practice Board is to develop, improve and disseminate best practices in the application of behavior analysis. Katherine (Katie) Brown, a PhD Candidate in MSIA – Applied Behavior Analysis, has been appointed to serve a 3 year term on the Practice Board. In addition to this international recognition, Katie is also recipient of a grant from Nebraska Medicine to fund a Community Autism Resource Education program at the Munroe Meyer Institute (MMI). This new program aims to help families with a child diagnosed with autism, or whose child is at-risk for autism, by providing access to early resources and recommendations from professionals about how to begin targeting prosocial and maladaptive behaviors in the home while waiting for more intensive services. Katie pursued her dissertation research under the direction of Amanda Zangrillo, PhD, in the MMI Center for Autism Spectrum Disorders and received her PhD in August 2019.
