Shrabasti Roychoudhury

Ph.D. Candidate in Genetics, Cell Biology & Anatomy

NIH National Cancer Institute Predoctoral to Postdoctoral Fellow Transition Award (F99 phase: 2017-2019)

The NCI Predoctoral to Postdoctoral Fellow Transition (F99/K00) Award supports outstanding Ph.D. candidates to complete their dissertation research training (F99 phase) and transition in a timely manner to mentored, cancer-focused postdoctoral career development research positions (K00 phase). Shrabasti Roychoudhury has been awarded an F99/K00 award for her project entitled “Cancer Therapeutic Resistance: Implication of AcAPE1-mediated DNA repair and T-cell-based immunotherapy.” Her research during the predoctoral (F99) phase of the project will define the role of acetylation of APE1 (AcAPE1) in oncogenesis and chemoresistance, with the goal of establishing AcAPE1 as a novel therapeutic target. The postdoctoral (K00) phase of the award will provide training to gain expertise on current T-cell-based immunotherapeutic strategies, the mechanisms that promote resistance to immunotherapy, the molecular biology behind killer T-cell exhaustion, and development of novel combinatorial therapeutics to treat cancer. Shrabasti is pursuing her dissertation research in Genetics, Cell Biology & Anatomy under the direction of Kishor Bhakat, Ph.D.
