NIH Training Grants

Incentives for Faculty to Apply for NIH Training Grants (T-grants)

The Graduate Studies Office will provide $5,000 to the research program of the individual UNMC faculty member primarily responsible for the preparation/submission of a T-grant application that includes pre-doctoral stipends. A maximum of 2 such awards will be funded UNMC-wide during each fiscal year, with the recipients selected based on NIH percentile scores.

For each funded NIH T-grant, the Graduate Studies Office will provide support for the training program in the form of both:

  1. One graduate student assistantship (at the standard UNMC stipend level) per year for the duration of the T-grant
  2. Administrative costs ranging from $8,000 annually (programs with 2 pre-doctoral slots) to $12,000 annually (programs with 6 pre-doctoral slots) for the duration of the T-grant
