A Missouri resident is in intensive care after officials confirmed they had contracted a rare and deadly infection after swimming at the Lake of the Ozarks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services confirmed the swimmer was infected with&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/naegleria\/about\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"Naegleria fowleri,, opens in a new window\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Naegleria fowleri,<\/a>&nbsp;commonly known as a brain-eating amoeba.
