Guardian<\/a> HHS secretary failed to respond to critics in editorial amid growing calls for him to resign and chaos across the agency. Robert F Kennedy Jr, the US secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), defended his response to the largest measles outbreak<\/a> in the US in 33 years in a new editorial, calling it an example of \u201cwhat a focused\u201d Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) \u201ccan achieve\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kennedy did so in a Wall Street Journal<\/a> editorial published on Tuesday, which coincides with extreme tumult at the CDC and strong claims from a former employee that the secretary wasn\u2019t even briefed on the measles outbreak.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the piece, Kennedy praises his agency\u2019s handling of the outbreak in west Texas, which hospitalized nearly 100 people and killed two children<\/a> earlier this year.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
