A letter published on Wednesday from more than 1,000 past and present workers of the Department of Health and Human Services department (HHS) has demanded the resignation of&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/us-news\/robert-f-kennedy-jr\">Robert F Kennedy Jr<\/a>, insisting the health secretary\u2019s attacks on vaccines endangered the lives of all Americans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The hard-hitting&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.savehhs.org\/enough-is-enough\">letter<\/a>, addressed to Congress members, blames Kennedy for&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/science\/audio\/2025\/sep\/02\/the-chaos-unfolding-at-us-health-agencies-podcast\">turmoil at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention<\/a>&nbsp;(CDC), including the firing of the agency\u2019s chief and replacement by a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/us-news\/donaldtrump\">Donald Trump<\/a>&nbsp;loyalist with&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/us-news\/2025\/aug\/28\/jim-oneill-cdc-profile\">no medical or scientific background<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It comes two days after&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/us-news\/2025\/sep\/01\/former-cdc-officials-rfk-jr-endangering-americans-health\">nine former CDC officials<\/a>&nbsp;wrote in a New York Times guest essay that Kennedy\u2019s leadership, and ousting of the CDC director, Susan Monarez, months after he appointed her, was \u201cunacceptable\u201d and \u201cunlike anything we have ever seen\u201d.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Guardian Letter says Kennedy installed ideologues, endangered US health and ignored pleas as resignations mounted at CDC.
