{"id":10566,"date":"2025-10-15T19:08:25","date_gmt":"2025-10-16T00:08:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/healthsecurity\/transmission\/?p=10566"},"modified":"2025-10-15T19:08:27","modified_gmt":"2025-10-16T00:08:27","slug":"young-women-with-symptomatic-long-covid-at-higher-risk-of-pots","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/healthsecurity\/transmission\/2025\/10\/15\/young-women-with-symptomatic-long-covid-at-higher-risk-of-pots\/","title":{"rendered":"Young Women With Symptomatic Long COVID At Higher Risk of POTS"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"panel body-content\"><div class=\"panel__container\">\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pharmacytimes.com\/view\/young-women-with-symptomatic-long-covid-at-higher-risk-of-pots\">Pharmacy Times<\/a> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a Swedish cohort, young women with symptomatic long COVID were found to be at higher risk of postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS), conferring additional burden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A cohort of predominantly younger women with highly symptomatic post-COVID-19 sequalae (PCS), also known as long COVID, demonstrated common incidence of postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS), according to new research published in&nbsp;<em>Circulation: Arrhythmia and Electrophysiology<\/em>.<sup>1<\/sup><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The observations show significantly lower physical activity and capacity compared with non-POTS long COVID, researchers said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What is the Link Between POTS and Long COVID?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>A total of 467 nonhospitalized, highly symptomatic patients with long COVID were prospectively analyzed, 91% of whom were middle-aged women who were healthy and physically active before they developed long COVID.
