A high school athlete at the time, the Pennsylvania resident experienced a brief bout of cold-like symptoms, recovered, and resumed his life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But 3 months later, he was infected a second time, and it hit him harder and lasted longer \u2014 his condition became long COVID. \u201cThe long COVID symptoms came around early April\u2026 I went from 100% to being bedridden in about 2-3 weeks,\u201d Denault recalled. For nearly 2 years, he was plagued by debilitating dizziness, chronic fatigue, and cognitive dysfunction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now, a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thelancet.com\/journals\/laninf\/article\/PIIS1473-3099(25)00476-1\/fulltext\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"landmark new study, opens in a new window\">landmark new study<\/a>&nbsp;reveals that Denault\u2019s experience is more common than previously believed.
