A new study shows the mammary glands of other livestock and humans could also be suitable hosts for the virus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Millions of wild birds, chickens and turkeys in the U.S. have been&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/bird-flu\/situation-summary\/data-map-commercial.html\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"affected, opens in a new window\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><u>affected<\/u><\/a>&nbsp;by the highly pathogenic avian influenza H5N1 virus since 2022.
