While extensive studies have found Covid-19 vaccines to be safe, effective, and to have saved&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.statnews.com\/2022\/12\/13\/covid-vaccines-prevented-3-million-deaths\/\">millions of lives<\/a>&nbsp;during the pandemic, these shots come with a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.statnews.com\/2021\/06\/23\/officials-note-likely-association-between-covid-19-vaccines-and-rare-heart-condition-in-young-people\/\">rare but real<\/a>&nbsp;risk of inflamed heart muscle, or myocarditis. Scientists on Wednesday reported that they have identified a pair of immune signals they believe drive these cases \u2014 and offered early evidence that these signals can be blocked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Researchers sifted through previous Covid vaccine studies and identified a pair of immune signaling molecules, or cytokines, present at higher levels in the blood of vaccine recipients with myocarditis: CXCL10 and interferon-gamma (IFN-\u03b3).
