There have been at least 15 million cases of the flu in the United States since late September, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention\u2019s most recent\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/fluview\/surveillance\/2025-week-53.html\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"estimates, opens in a new window\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">estimates<\/a>, and 7,400 flu-related deaths. Influenza cases in the U.S. haven\u2019t yet reached their peak, but it\u2019s already proving to be \u201ca really bad\u201d flu season, said Richard A. Martinello, an infectious-disease expert and medical director of the infection prevention department at Yale New Haven Health.
