In\u00a0just a few weeks, the United States reported four times as many cases than typically seen throughout an entire calendar year, the CDC said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Before last year, which had a record breaking 2,276 cases, the U.S. averaged 180 cases annually since measles was declared eliminated in 2000.The record numbers come as\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/abcnews.com\/US\/800-cases-south-carolinas-record-breaking-measles-outbreak\/story?id=129608461\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"South Carolina, opens in a new window\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">South Carolina<\/a>\u00a0is dealing with the largest outbreak recorded in recent memory.
