He was initially\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.euronews.com\/culture\/2023\/11\/10\/did-you-know-that-walt-disney-was-a-spy-for-the-fbi\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"recruited, opens in a new window\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">recruited<\/a>\u00a0on November 10, 1940, and was then made a \u201cSpecial Agent in Charge Contact\u201d in 1954 \u2014 essentially a voluntary FBI contact who could be called on for information about communist influence in Hollywood. Disney continued his relationship with the bureau until his death in 1966.\u00a0 Though his title was largely\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/mouseplanet.com\/debunking-myths-about-walt-disney\/6134\/\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"ceremonial, opens in a new window\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ceremonial<\/a>\u00a0and Disney certainly wasn\u2019t a spy (despite sharing the government\u2019s fiercely anti-communist views), he did enjoy a friendly relationship with the bureau \u2014 at least until he produced a positive segment about the agency for the original Mickey Mouse Club and didn\u2019t show the final copy to the FBI until just before it aired.
