Colorado authorities have logged their first \u200bconfirmed death from hantavirus since 2024, according to a statement on Monday from the Colorado Department of Public Health \u200band Environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Officials noted that this new hantavirus case has been traced to a strain endemic to Colorado, Sin Nombre (Spanish for \u201cnameless\u201d), and not the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gizmodo.com\/freaking-out-about-hantavirus-heres-what-you-should-know-2000756261\">now widely known Andes strain<\/a>\u00a0responsible for\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gizmodo.com\/polymarket-spreads-sensationalist-garbage-about-hantavirus-case-in-u-s-2000759404#:~:text=Many%20people%20around%20the%20world%20are%20on%20edge%20after%20hantavirus%20infected%20at%20least%2011%20people%20on%20a%20cruise%20ship%2C%20killing%20three.\">infecting at least 11 people onboard the Dutch cruise ship MV\u00a0<em>Hondius<\/em>\u00a0and killing three<\/a>.
