The region is already heavily affected by&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.afro.who.int\/countries\/democratic-republic-of-congo\/news\/democratic-republic-congo-confirms-new-ebola-outbreak-who-scales-upsupport\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"conflict, displacement, hunger, and limited access to healthcare and other basic services, opens in a new window\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">conflict, displacement, hunger, and limited access to healthcare and other basic services<\/a>, all of which make it harder to stop the spread of disease.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This outbreak involves the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/articles\/cz72p75zg4qo\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"Bundibugyo strain, opens in a new window\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Bundibugyo strain<\/a>, a type of Ebola for which there is currently no approved vaccine. As of May 19, authorities\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/ebola\/situation-summary\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"reported, opens in a new window\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reported<\/a>\u00a0536 suspected cases, 105 probable cases, 34 confirmed cases, and 134 deaths.
