University of Rhode Island researcher Johanna Harvey and collaborators reviewed how migration patterns, seasonal behavior, and species interactions influence bird flu transmission across diverse ecosystems. The study warns that expanding host susceptibility and increased transmission rates are adding significant pressure to bird populations already stressed by climate change, habitat loss, and other environmental threats, particularly among waterbirds and raptors.
