RSV, which\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/changing-america\/well-being\/prevention-cures\/3705182-what-to-know-about-rsv-symptoms-and-transmission\/\">stands for r<\/a><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/changing-america\/well-being\/prevention-cures\/3705182-what-to-know-about-rsv-symptoms-and-transmission\/\" target=\"_blank\">espiratory syncytial virus<\/a>, is\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/policy\/healthcare\/3720137-surging-rsv-hits-childrens-hospitals-across-the-us\/\" target=\"_blank\">surgi<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/policy\/healthcare\/3720137-surging-rsv-hits-childrens-hospitals-across-the-us\/\">ng in number<\/a>\u00a0of cases and hospitalizations in young patients across the country.\u00a0 RSV can cause severe clinical problems in infants, particularly those under six months of age. It can also cause severe disease in older adults. &#8220;We\u2019re just full up with RSV,\u201d said pediatrician Janet Englund at the Seattle Children\u2019s Hospital.\u00a0 October 31 was the busiest new patient arrival day in the past 5 years in the Seattle Children\u2019s emergency department, according to a representative of the hospital. Fifty percent of the patients visiting the emergency department had respiratory issues.
