A dangerous virus, monkeypox, arrived in New York City in May, shortly before the World Health Organization declared it a \u201cpublic health emergency of international concern.\u201d That designation that had been in effect for only two other diseases, Covid-19 and polio. But the monkeypox outbreak has subsided, and New York City\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2022\/11\/17\/nyregion\/monkeypox-vaccine-van-nyc.html\">has stopped sending vaccine vans<\/a>\u00a0to community centers and nightclubs. It has also closed mass vaccination sites that were set up in the summer.
