The young study participants also reported more severe symptoms of anxiety, depression and what scientists call internalized problems \u2013&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.intechopen.com\/chapters\/60160\" target=\"_blank\">meaning<\/a>&nbsp;feelings of sadness, low self-esteem and fear and trouble regulating their emotions \u2013 after the first year of the pandemic. <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2021\/07\/22\/health\/covid-19-pandemic-mental-health-children\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">Dozens<\/a>&nbsp;of&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2022\/10\/13\/health\/teen-mental-health-adverse-events-cdc\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">studies<\/a>&nbsp;have found that teens\u2019 and adolescents\u2019 mental health has suffered during the pandemic. They have been taken out of school, away from their friends and familiar support structures, and had to live with the uncertainty and fear that came with the coronavirus.
