For the last decade or so, the number of accepted rare diseases has stood between 7,000 and 8,000, though the number had been ticking up. RareX\u2019s\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/rare-x.org\/case-studies\/the-power-of-being-counted\/#:~:text=The%20Power%20of%20Being%20Counted%20Report%20uncovers%20rare%20diseases%20that,in%20the%20rare%20disease%20community.\" target=\"_blank\">Power of Being Counted<\/a>\u00a0report, published in June 2022, now puts the number of recognized rare diseases at 10,867, an increase of more than one-third.
