{"id":3118,"date":"2023-04-04T18:35:56","date_gmt":"2023-04-04T23:35:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/healthsecurity\/transmission\/?p=3118"},"modified":"2023-04-04T18:37:03","modified_gmt":"2023-04-04T23:37:03","slug":"nigeria-447-suspected-cholera-cases-reported-in-6-states","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/healthsecurity\/transmission\/2023\/04\/04\/nigeria-447-suspected-cholera-cases-reported-in-6-states\/","title":{"rendered":"Nigeria: 447 suspected cholera cases reported in 6 states"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"panel body-content\"><div class=\"panel__container\">\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/sunnewsonline.com\/447-suspected-cholera-cases-reported-in-6-states\/\">The Sun<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The&nbsp;Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC), has said six states, Cross River (397), Zamfara (25), Ebonyi (11), Abia (9), Bayelsa (3) and Kano (2), reported 447&nbsp;&nbsp;suspected cholera cases in weeks five to nine of 2023.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The NCDC, via its official website, yesterday, however, said 12 states have reported suspected cholera cases since the beginning of 2023 \u2013 Abia, Bayelsa, Benue, Cross River, Ebonyi, Kano, Katsina, Niger, Ondo, Osun, Sokoto and Zamfara.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The agency said as of March 5, a total of 922 suspected cases, including 32 deaths (CFR 3.5 per cent ) were reported from the 12 states, including Cross River (16), Ebonyi (six), Abia (six), Niger (two), Zamfara (one) and Bayelsa (one).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The NCDC\u2019s epidemiological report showed that of all the cases recorded since the beginning of 2023, Cross River accounted for 70 per cent of the cumulative cases across the country, with its 647 cases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It said Cross River\u2019s 16 deaths, accounted for 50 per cent of all cholera deaths in the country.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Sun The&nbsp;Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC), has said six states, Cross River (397), Zamfara (25), Ebonyi (11), Abia (9), Bayelsa (3) and Kano (2), reported 447&nbsp;&nbsp;suspected cholera cases in weeks five to nine of 2023.
