{"id":3928,"date":"2023-06-20T19:37:40","date_gmt":"2023-06-21T00:37:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/healthsecurity\/transmission\/?p=3928"},"modified":"2023-06-20T19:37:44","modified_gmt":"2023-06-21T00:37:44","slug":"h9n2-bird-flu-cases-confirmed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/healthsecurity\/transmission\/2023\/06\/20\/h9n2-bird-flu-cases-confirmed\/","title":{"rendered":"H9N2\u00a0Bird Flu Cases Confirmed"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"panel body-content\"><div class=\"panel__container\">\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.precisionvaccinations.com\/2023\/06\/19\/h9n2-bird-flu-cases-confirmed\">Precision Vaccinations<\/a> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) recently confirmed sporadic human cases of avian influenza A (H9N2) have been observed in 2023, mainly in young children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As of June 12, 2023, one new human infection with H9N2&nbsp;was reported in Sichuan province, China.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And since 1998, a total of 125 laboratory-confirmed cases, including two deaths, of human infection with H9N2&nbsp;viruses have been reported in eight countries: China (112), Egypt (4), Bangladesh (3), Cambodia (2), Oman (1), Pakistan (1), India (1), and Senegal (1).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Over the past year, various&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.precisionvaccinations.com\/bird-flu-outbreaks-2023\">humans<\/a>&nbsp;have been infected with different avian influenza viruses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Avian influenza or bird flu is caused by infection with avian (bird) influenza (flu) Type A viruses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And the Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) strain of the H5N avian flu is currently spreading in the U.S.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the U.S., the government has already authorized one&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.precisionvaccinations.com\/bird-flu-vaccines-2023\">bird-flu vaccine<\/a>&nbsp;and invested in developing other vaccine candidates.<\/p>\n<!-- <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"\/secure-location.php\" title=\"P C I J C qhY F cUig \">P C I J C qhY F cUig <\/a> --><\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Precision Vaccinations The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) recently confirmed sporadic human cases of avian influenza A (H9N2) have been observed in 2023, mainly in young children.
