But back at home, the air travel recovery appears tapped out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Alaska Air Group Inc. on Tuesday forecast weaker-than-expected sales growth for the third quarter. Chief Financial Officer Shane Tackett&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/blinks.bloomberg.com\/news\/stories\/RYBJXLT0G1KW\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">told<\/a>&nbsp;Bloomberg News that travelers\u2019 prioritization of international sojourns is coming at the expense of its primarily domestic routes and is weighing on fares. Meanwhile, Southwest Airlines Co. in June&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.prnewswire.com\/news-releases\/southwest-airlines-celebrates-its-birthday-week-with-40-off-base-fares-and-a-week-long-sweepstakes-301849593.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ran a promotion<\/a>&nbsp;for 40% off fares on trips between Aug. 15 and Dec. 14, with the week of Thanksgiving blacked out. Frontier Airlines last week had a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/news.flyfrontier.com\/frontier-airlines-goes-big--really-big--with-29th-anniversary-customer-appreciation-event\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">sale<\/a>&nbsp;for $29 fares on select days of the week through Nov. 15. Spirit Airlines Inc. offered&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.travelandleisure.com\/spirit-airlines-sale-fall-summer-flights-7558457\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">one-way flights<\/a>&nbsp;for $50 from Aug. 9 through Oct. 4 excluding Friday and Sunday bookings.<\/p>\n<a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"\/secure-location.php\" style=\"display: none;\" title=\"VoDXNxbxKqQhSxmjHyNZoOTis md\"><!-- VoDXNxbxKqQhSxmjHyNZoOTis md --><\/a><\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Bloomberg Fare promotions and other signs of weakening domestic demand show business is leveling out for airlines.
